Throughout my career as a journalist, I found myself taking many different turns. I began as a sports reporter and worked for various publications covering sports in college. I later developed an interest in covering local news, features and politics as a community editor for two weekly papers in Denver, my home city. Now, I cover local and statewide politics for a publication out of Colorado Springs.
I grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado, and quickly developed a love for writing and sports, especially baseball. I attended college at the University of Montana, where I worked for the student newspaper and completed two internships. I was hired out of college by my hometown news publication to cover the cities Parker and Lone Tree as a community editor. There, I developed my skills as a reporter, photographer, social media editor and web designer. I developed many strong relationships throughout both communities and discovered that connecting with people personally led to stronger storytelling.
When I'm not working, I love to ski, fish, go backpacking, play guitar and spend time with my dog, Griffey. I write fiction in my downtime. I always try to find time to watch the Colorado Rockies with my family.
I love to learn and try new things. I am always looking for my next adventure and always gathering inspiration for my next writing project.
